What type of technology and how does it work to sweep for hidden electronic devices?

What kind of technology do they use when they build those sweep devices that can find hidden bugs, cams, or microphones?
All electronic devices, whether they are a bug, cam, microphone, RF, whatever--all generate electromagnetic signals or fields. A sensor can detect these electromagnetic signals.
I like the MicroVideoX device sweeper because of the hole it has in the middle that you actually look through. It sends a bright flash of light out across the room and if a camera lens is near, it will reflect the blinking light back at you so you can see where a camera lens is in the room.
