People Who Have Child Pornography

22 November 2008 4 Comments

Can they catch and arrest people for searching? Or are they only able to catch them when they download? Does Yahoo and Google track people searching for porn or just the people who download stuff or what? I was just wondering how they catch people doing this because you hear about it on the news all the time. Thanks.

They have Law Enforcement on the Internet 24 hours a day monitoring chat rooms and different websites. Someone can be arrested for soliciting child porn, viewing, downloading, storing illegal images on their computer, and of course if they maintain a website that has this junk on it.

Further, your ISP (Internet Service Provider) keeps a record of every website you visit. Google and Yahoo keep their own records of what you type into search engines and what websites you visit. It is very simple for them to get both your ISP records and cross check them against Yahoo or Google's records to paint a complete picture of exactly what you are doing online. Anywhere and everywhere you go online there is a record being created and stored.

I hope you are not asking so that you can try to cover your own tracks better!

All your activity online is recorded by your Internet provider. That means if you visit such a site, your ip address is register at being on this site, and the internet provider has to keep records of which ip address is used by which user.

So when the cops search these sites and look at what ip addresses have been on these sites, they can trace them back to the internet providers, and therefore also to the user.

Also the police have been known to put up fake sites every now and then… and they can track where people are being referred from… so they can track backward.
