The best way to find people for free is to use My Space or Facebook. Lots of people have reported finding someone they lost touch with on My Space. What you want to do is to search for your friends name. If your friend is a woman, then this will not work if she has married.

The second way to find people for free is if you create a My Space account and put yourself up there. Put your whole name, where you went to school, jobs you've had, and interests. Make sure to include a picture of what you look like now and what you looked like in high school. Add to your profile under the "I want to find other people who" section on your My Space profile that you are looking for people who graduated from xxxxxx High School in 1988 or whatever. Do not put your phone number, address, or anything that a criminal could use to stalk you or to steal your identity.

Another way to find people for free is to use a Google search. Type the person's name into the Google search engine and see what comes up. Many people have set up family home pages to share family photos or other information. If they have a very common name, also include other details like hometown or a school name in the search.

If you don't mind spending a small amount of money then there is a much better, and faster, way to find people. Also, once you find them you can check the public records on them before you even contact them and find out things like: is she married, does he have a criminal record, etc. I can't stress enough the importance of doing this first. Why? Because despite what your emotions are currently telling you, people usually stop contacting each other for a reason. There are reasons why people don't stay in touch. So, before you approach someone from your past and perhaps cause major problems with their spouse, or before you approach someone from your past who is a drug addict and who has been in and out of court for drugs, you need to know these things before you just jump into their life without warning.
