My grandfather was killed in an explosion after copper thieves stripped the propane gas lines from his home and left the house fill with gas. The cops told us that because the crime resulted in the death of my grandfather that when they catch the guys, they will be charged with murder. Copper thieves steal more than copper. You can't install something that kills somebody if they try to steel your copper. While we all hate thieves and hope they get caught and thrown in jail, we don't kill them. Would the thieves get the death penalty if caught? No. Therefore you can't administer death as a reasonable form of punishment. If you do, you will go up on capital murder charges. Hardly worth protecting your copper. I knew a guy who was fined for installing razor blades around his pull out stereo in his car to protect it against thieves. He called the cops and showed him the blood trail from his car. The cop told him that he could get in big trouble for installing that booby trap like that and fined him and told him he had to remove those blades. Now image what will happen to you if you kill somebody. Now if you had a pit bull, and your pit bull killed somebody breaking into your yard, the extent of your punishment would probably be your pit bull taken away and put to sleep. The reason is that your pit bull acted as a deterent by barking and yet the thieves still jumped the fence to steel your copper. They knew before hand that you had a pit bull and yet they tried to steel your copper anyways. I was robbed in the dead of night. I now have booby traps set up every night to kill them...LOL I still have 3 tons of copper in my yard that is not secured with a street value of about $15,000.
