Internet Stalker Phone Number Trace
To stop an Internet stalker, you need to be able to profile one. In this article we will profile Internet stalkers and then discuss how you can end the stalking with a phone number trace.
The Three Types Of Internet Stalkers
There are three basic type of stalkers: obsessional, delusional, and vengeful. There is often some overlap between these 3 distinct profiles of stalkers.
Obsessional Stalker
An obsessional stalker is typically a person who refuses to believe that a relationship is over even after the other person involved in the relationship has made this clear. Obsessional stalkers often turn more and more violent over time. There are many cases of an obsessional stalker taking his stalking offline and into the real world which ultimately resulted in the murder of the object of his affections. This type of stalker tends to be male in this late 30s - 40s. He spends all of his free time on the Internet chasing girls and women. He frequents Internet chat rooms. He will often be emotionally disturbed and usually have peadophile tendencies. This is the most common type of Internet Stalker.
Delusional Stalker
A delusional stalker suffers from some type of mental illness like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or erotomania. Even though they have never had any contact with their victim they have a false belief that they are in someway tied to their victims. In erotomania, they believe that the victim loves them even though they have never met. A tragic example of this is the man that stalked and killed Rebecca Schaeffer.
Rebecca Lucile Schaeffer (November 6, 1967 – July 18, 1989) was an American actress who was best known for her role in the sitcom My Sister Sam. Schaeffer was stalked and then murdered by an obsessed fan, prompting the passage of anti-stalking laws in California.
This type of stalker is usually a male between the ages of 16 - 30. He is usually a loner, unmarried, socially immature and does not possess the interpersonal skills to maintain friendships and relationships. He has had few if any sexual encounters. They most often choose victims that are unobtainable being a celebrity or a married woman, their doctor, teacher, nurse or therapist. Those helping professions are at risk for attracting a delusional stalker.
A common belief of the delusional stalker is that he and the victim are destined to be together, and even though they have never met, if he only just shows how much he loves her then she will love him and they will be together as it is meant to be. An example of this type of stalker is John Hinckley Jr. that shot president Reagan in order to show Jody Foster how much he loved her.
Delusional stalkers are very difficult to get rid of and many go on for many years fixated on one person.
Vengeful Stalker
This type of Internet stalker gets angry at their victim due to a real or imaginary offense. Disgruntled employees are vengeful stalkers. They stalk to get even and believe that "they" have been victimized. Ex-spouses are often this type of stalker and violence and death is an all to common result.
Avoiding Internet Stalkers
Most Internet stalkers are motivated by the following desires and emotions: sex, love-obsession, hate, revenge, vendettas, and ego and power trips.
Avoid all Internet chat rooms. The ratio of men to women online is about 2 to 1 so the competition for a woman's attention is fierce. If you have a female sounding username, expect to be swamped with propositions by all the men in the chat room. Internet stalkers often frequent chat rooms so just avoid them completely.
Sometimes you form a friendship with someone online, perhaps even a romantic one. When you wish to end the relationship the other person becomes obsessional. They constantly message you or e-mail you. Even if you have never spoken to this person in real life they may seek you out finding out your offline information so that they can telephone or try to visit or mail you gifts. They may shower you with compliments and love or bombard you with hate mail but the bottom line is the same, they are obsessed and you are a victim of stalking.
Stopping An Internet Stalker
Most Internet stalking eventually moves from online to offline. The biggest bit of information you can get about your stalker is their phone number. Never pretend to like him just to get his phone number. If he keeps calling you, put call blocking on your phone that will only allow a call to come through if he reveals his phone number to you. Once you have his phone number, use this service through DetectiveU to do a phone number trace.
This is a really great service because you can do a phone number trace yourself. You can have the police put a phone trace on your line, but that takes time and it's hard to get accurate results quickly.
After you have the stalker's name and address, the next thing you need to do is to call the police and explain to them what is going on. Be truthful. If you had a previous relationship with this person but now want to call it off, that's fine. The police need to know all the details surrounding this stalker. You have the right to call off any relationship you want without becoming a stalking victim. Give the police the name and the address of the person who is stalking you and tell them that you got this information by doing your own phone number trace or reverse phone lookup. The police will tell you how to proceed and what steps you should take next. They will also send a patrol car over to the man's house and tell him to stop calling you or face jail time.
